[:en]Since Decemeber I’ve been mentioning Gourmet Experience Gran Via either here or on Instagram, and i thought it was about time I fill you in on it.
It’s a gastronomic experience on the rooftop of a shopping center, in the center of the Madrid. But not just your regular resturant where you seat and a waiter will come with the menu and take your order, no no. This is a new concept of dining in all its glory.
The escalator takes you swiftly to the 9th floor of the El Corte Inglés shopping center in Callao, where as you enter you are slowly but surely amazed by the huge variety and quality of product (*Note: not apt for the light-hearted*). A fancy schmancy delicatessen shop in all its glory opens up in front of you.
Aisle after aisle after aisle of mouth-watering cakes, breads, seafood, meat, veggies, drinks from all over the world, anything you could possibly imagine, you can surely find it there.
Once you pull the strength to walk out of the market area, the food court opens up in front of you…magical place where all the eating takes place.
There are 10 mini stall-restaurants to choose from, ranging from the best all natural and organic burgers at Hamburguesa Nostra,
to freshly rolled sushi to eat there or take away at Tse Yang Dimsum Club,
traditional “Pintxos” with a modern touch at Imanol,
delicious mexican food at Central Mexicana.
And let’s not forget the popular, La Maquina. It offers the best of Spanish produce in the most traditional “casa de comidas” style. Here you won’t just eat but will enjoy the most simple yet grandiose of experiences.
To complete the lot, macaroons, ice cream, and a bar couldn’t be amiss.
You pick your meal from whichever of the 9 options available you fancy, and find yourself a table by the window or outside in the terrace, although may be tricky to find a free one.
Either way, don’t forget to look around because the decor is worth the trip up!
And so are the views!
There are other locations throughout the city, as well as in other cities, but I highly recommend to visit the Gourmet Experience Gran Via because of its prime location, its astonishing views, the casual and relaxed ambiance, and the food options available.
Have you been to Gourmet Experience Gran Via or other location? What was your impression? Is there something like this where you are? Share your thoughts with me down in the comments below, can’t wait to hear all about your experiences!
