Happy Thanksgiving & Hello, Weihnachtsmarkt

Today couldn’t be any more amazing than it is. It’s Thanksgiving once again, and the beautiful Weihnachtsmarkt has opened it’s…windows to mark the “official” beginning of the Christmas season! The smell of mulled Wine and roasted Almonds, Marzipan and Bratwürste, chocolate-covered Fruits and Schmalzkuchen, Weihnachtszeit flavors take over the city’s atmosphere. It’s Christmas again! It feels like being transported to a fairy-tale land, but I’ll be making a post on it soon so you can see for yourselves.
So, after our German class, we decided to go walk around and soak up on the Christmas spirit that takes over every city and town in Germany. These guys love this wonderful holiday (so do I) and they know how to Christmas-it-up! We ordered some mulled wine and Eierpunch (eggnog), some traditional dough balls (Schmalzkuchen) and headed down to the harbour for the fireworks! The only thing missing so far, snow! I hope it comes soon.

On the other hand, most of you probably know what else is today, us Europeas don’t celebrate the good ol’ Thanksgiving fest, but none-the-less, I want to wish you all a very happy one, with lots of joy and  family and friends time.
I would like to end today’s post with a quote by Melody Beattie I found a few days ago and thought would be relevant to what I think life should be about, not only on Christmas and Thanksgiving, but every day of the year.

[Gratitude] turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity…it makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.

Happy holidays everyone, no matter where you are and what you believe in, i hope you are all happy!
