4 Great Ideas for the Perfect Girls’ (Valentine’s Day) Weekend

Valentine’s day is swiftly approaching, and with it the pink/red heat-shaped balloons, V-Day specials in hotels, restaurants, and dream-vacation agencies, chocolate, and “I-♥-YOU” teddy bears wherever we look at.

Because not everyone will be taking part in this yearly “adventure” we call Valentine’s day, and because in some countries it is also “Friendship day”, I decided to put together 4 awesome ideas to spend a superb weekend with your friends. Keep reading and prepare to be amazed.

Because “girls just wanna have fun!” I decided to start by the most glamorous of the four, Glamping.

In case you aren’t familiar with the concept, the Oxford Dictionaries defines it as “a form of camping involving accommodation and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping“. There you go, sweet and to the point.

So what could be best than a weekend away at a luxurious resort with your besties, enjoying some bubbles, and some pampering? Nothing I say!

Whether you are in Europe, Australasia/Oceania, America or Africa, it doesn’t matter, you’re bound to find this highly popular resort somewhere near you. And for inspiration you can check this list of the sixteen best Glamping sites in the world by Skyscanner, or this mini guide to Glamping around the world by Conde Nast Traveller. Another good resource for inspiration is Glamping Hub.

However, if Glamping is too “Year-2000” for you, the amazing luxury private villas, and hotels in the best exotic locations on offer at The Luxe Nomad are a very formidable alternative. I sure day (and night) dream about the day I can finally go on a trip like that.

If Glamping is not your thing, you and your ladies can book a shopping trip to your favourite shopping capital. London, Milan, Paris, Madrid…in Europe at least with companies such as Easyjet and Ryanair you can find flights as cheap as 30 € return, but make sure to ALWAYS read the fine print!

You can fly in after work/uni on Friday and return late night Sunday. Spend the days exploring the streets and shops, and enjoy the evenings at the “In” places around town. Doesn’t it sound just perfect?

The third choice is to go on a spa day (or weekend) adventure. Either research a spa resort somewhere nice and “exotic” where you can stay overnight (like The Gstaad Palace and The Cambrian Adelboden in the beautiful Swiss Alps), or simply book a day at a spa near you if you don’t want to go away and/or spend a fortune. Whichever one you chose, it’s a lot of fun, and when you go back to work on Monday you’ll be the freshest most relaxed of them all, the envy of Snow White’s evil step-mother.

And the last but not least, for those who prefer something a bit more laid-back, there’s no going wrong with a old-school grown-up sleep over, with home-spa, healthy snacks, and a chick-flick (or adventure films, or whatever you guys are down to) moviethon!

Which one is your favourite? What would you do on a girl’s Valentine’s weekend? Have you done any of them before? What was your experience? Can’t wait hear read all about it down on the comments ^^

I know right?! I remember a couple years back I managed to score a return flight to Denmark from London for about 2 quid! I’ve been trying to plan something one for London, but weekends seem to fly away without letting me. tsk tsk ^^ x

That’s also a wonderful way to spend the day! I have a tradition by now, every Christmas when I go home I re-watch all the HP movies ^^
